Junior Interior Designer - Kitchens, Bathrooms & Joinery

Urban Kitchens and Joinery | Brisbane/Gold Coast, Qld

Urban Kitchens and Joinery is looking for a Junior Interior Designer to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone who has recently completed their Interior Design qualification and is looking to gain real industry experience designing kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes and custom joinery.

You’ll work alongside our experienced design and production team, learning how to take projects from initial design concepts through to installation on high-end residential homes.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work on high-end residential projects alongside an award-winning kitchen design team, creating beautiful spaces that often become centrepieces of our clients’ homes.

For the right person, this role has the potential to grow into a full Interior Designer / Client Design Consultant position, running your own projects and working directly with clients.

About the Role

  • Assist with the design of kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes and custom joinery
  • Create SketchUp models and layouts for client presentations
  • Produce photo-realistic renders using the Enscape SketchUp plug-in
  • Support the design team with materials, finishes and selections
  • Work with our production team to translate designs into buildable joinery
  • Sit in on client design consultations and learn how to guide clients through design decisions
  • Develop the skills required to eventually run your own client projects

Skills & Experience

  • Recent graduate of an Interior Design course (Interior Designers Institute or similar)
  • Confident using SketchUp
  • Experience with Enscape or other rendering software (preferred but not essential)
  • Own laptop capable of running SketchUp and rendering software
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Passion for kitchen and interior design
  • Good attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Interest in developing into a client-facing design role

Junior Designer

Michael Christopher Design is expanding, and we’re looking for a passionate Junior Designer to join our team in our brand-new Fortitude Valley showroom.


This is an exciting opportunity to work closely alongside an experienced designer, gaining hands-on experience across high-end residential projects. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team delivering beautifully considered spaces with a strong focus on kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, and interior design.


About the Role
As a Junior Designer, you will play a key support role across the design process, assisting from concept through to completion. This is a dynamic position where no two days are the same.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Michael and the team in refining and finalising design concepts
  • Working with clients to select finishes, materials, and fixtures
  • Preparing and delivering client presentations
  • Attending site meetings and supporting project coordination
  • Meeting with new clients and assisting in initial design consultations


About You
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within the design industry.
Ideally, you will have:

  • A qualification in Interior Design or a related field
  • A strong interest in high-end residential design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • A keen eye for detail and finishes
  • Confidence working in a team environment
  • Proficiency in design software
